STANDING TRAIN NOTICE
TRJ Project - Islington to Mile End - Train Over Height Detection for Follow on Movements
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Upon completion of commissioning activities, Follow on Movements from Islington to Mile End will be available.
If the 4.3m Islington South Height Detector is triggered the information will be cascaded to Torrens Junction and Hold Mile End 44 and 44 Low Speed Signal at Stop until reset.
The Height Detector is required to be reset differently depending on single train or follow on train operations as follows:
1) In the event the first train into the section departing Islington triggers the Over height Alarm, the Signalling Interlocking will apply an aspect restriction to Mile End Signal 44, resulting in Signal 44 being reverted to stop and prevented from clearing. The process to immediately request the train to stop as soon as possible mid-section for inspection should be followed for the first train described in OGW-30-08 2.2.1.3 Over height movement.
a. If the Train is stopped for inspection prior to the 5.000km, (the P47 Pedestrian Crossing Island Track) then the reset can be performed once the movement is inspected and determined to not be overheight utilising the 4.3m Indication Reset at Islington. b. If the Train passes the P47 Pedestrian Crossing Island Track towards Mile End prior to being stopped for Inspection then the overheight status of the train will follow the train on the approach to Signal 44 location where the reset will need to be performed at both Mile End to clear the 44 Train Overheight 4.3m Indication and the reset performed at Islington to clear the 406 Train overheight 4.3m and Islington 4.3m Indications. The 406 Train overheight 4.3m indication will clear only after 406 Approach Tracks are cleared. c. In the event the first train into the section departing Islington triggers the Over height Alarm and it is not stopped for inspection prior to the train clearing overlap of Signal 406 then there is potential for a stacked follow-on movement to proceed at caution to Signal 406. This should be avoided as if the Islington 4.3m Reset hasn’t occurred yet the follow on movement will be given the same Overheight status as the previous movement and both trains will be required to be inspected.
2) In the event a following train into the section departing Islington triggers the Over height Alarm, the ‘healthy train ok’ indications will follow the first train once it has departed 30 Signal Overlap until it is clear of the section and passed Mile End 44 Signal. The Train Over Height Detector Indications will activate and cascade from Islington to Mile End for the second train and aspect restrictions will be applied to Signal 44 as per item 1 above. The process to stop the train mid-section for inspection should be followed for the following train described in OGW-30-08 2.2.1.3 Over height movement.
