SIGNALLING INFRASTRUCTURE CHANGES GILLMAN JUNCTION TO PORT FLAT
From the above date and time, the following infrastructure changes will be implemented.
27 points located at 4.830km at Gillman Junction consisting of the point machine and associated turnout which forms access to the Rosewater loop will be permanently removed and the mainline track will be straight railed.
52 points located at 6.820km consisting of the point machine and associated common rail changeover points will be permanently removed and the mainline track will be straight railed.
The theatre box on Signal 33 at Gillman Junction was removed during previous work.
Theatre boxes remain functional at signal 53 and 54 Port Flat, signal 64 and 64E Birkenhead. The theatre boxes are still required to indicate the correct gauge for the movement as part of the signal indication.
Signalling changes planned to be implemented to prevent trains being signalled to both Signal 33 and Signal 34 at the same time at Gillman Junction will be completed by a Contractor in the first Quarter of 2021.
In the interim, network controllers shall not clear Signals 54 or 56 Port Flat and Signals 23 or 23E Bishop Loop if any train movements are between these signals or the track circuits between these signals are indicating occupied.
