Location: Appleton Dock Sidings
OVERVIEW: Appleton Dock Rd Level Crossing is located at the Wharf Siding of the Appleton Dock Sidings and is provided with Flashing Lights operated from a Pull Out switch in a cabinet locked with a 1P padlock on the Appleton Dock Siding side of the level crossing.
Pulling the switch out will initiate the level crossing operation and pushing the switch in will cancel the level crossing operation.
Whilst a rail movement is standing on the Level Crossing track circuit the level crossing will continue to operate however the level crossing will not automatically stop operating after a rail movement clears the level crossing. Rail Movements must not enter the level crossing until the level crossing equipment has been operating for 30 seconds.
The following signs are located either side of the level crossing: TRAINS MUST NOT ENTER ROADWAY UNTIL LIGHTS AND BELLS ARE OPERATING
RAIL MOVEMENT PASSING OVER THE LEVEL CROSSING: When a rail movement requires to pass over the level crossing the Driver must: - Stop the rail movement in advance of the level crossing - Initiate the level crossing operation by pulling the level crossing control button to the Out Position - Confirm that the level crossing equipment is operating correctly - Wait 30 seconds and then allow the rail movement to enter the level crossing. Once the rail movement has cleared the level crossing the Driver must: - Cancel the level crossing operation by pushing the level crossing control button to the In Position - Lock the door housing the level crossing control.
This train notice must be complied with until the new Port of Melbourne Operating Protocols are issued, in the mean time new signage will also be installed and will be detailed in an updated train notice
