Monday 24/03/2025 From 1800 hours the following points will be commissioned as part of the Somerton Intermodal Terminal.
Points: - CGB13U (25.218Km) @ Craigieburn - CGB13D (25.271Km) @ Craigieburn
The points are equipped with a dual control point machine, the Selector Lever is set in the ‘ Motor Operating Position’ and the Hand Throw Lever is set in the ‘Normal’ position and detection cut into B6T track circuit.
(*) The operating levers on the point machines have been disabled (*).
The blade of the points is in the closed (normal) position.
The following point security is provided: - Two point clips securing the blade closed and padlocked with independent padlocks, - Independent padlocks on the Point machine Selector Lever and the Hand Throw Lever. (*)- The point lock is engaged within the point machine (*). - Baulks shall be placed and secured at the clearance point of the crossover. - Point blades are spiked in the Normal Position.
INDEPENDENT PADLOCKS The key for the Independent Padlocks on the point clips and Dual Control Points Machine securing the points are to be held by Somerton Intermodal Terminal Signalling Project Manager (Tommy Ward).
B6T TRACK CIRCUIT FAILURE (*) In the event that Somerton B6T Track circuit show occupied, the ARTC Network Controller must arrange for a SMT to attend. As part of their inspection they must confirm that the points are correctly set and secure.
In accordance with TA20, rail traffic may proceed via a CTC Caution Order prior to the Signal Maintainer attending, subject to the following conditions: - The non-commissioned points must be specifically listed in the "Before passing over points" section of the Caution Order. - The issuance of the Caution Order must contain clear instruction to the rail traffic crew that they must STOP and confirm the points are in the correct position before traversing them (*).
UNLOCKING CGB13U & CGB13D Should there be a requirement to unlock the independent padlocks, the Somerton Intermodal Terminal Signalling Project Manager (Tommy Ward) must be contacted and requested to attend.
Prior to unlocking any padlocks securing the point clips or point machine, the permission of the ARTC Network Controller must be obtained.
When requested, the ARTC Network Controller must ensure that there are no rail movements between Somerton and Donnybrook and that blocking commands are applied on the departure signals at Somerton and Donnybrook Loop.
