NORTH GEELONG TO GHERINGHAP

(TRAIN NOTICE 6 OF 7)

COMMISSIONING OF NEW SIGNALLING BETWEEN NORTH GEELONG AND ELDERS

Upon commissioning of the new signalling between North Geelong and Gheringhap, the following track changes will apply:

- A duplicated section of track will be commissioned between Thompsons Road level Crossing and Ballan Rd at Moorabool, the down track will be referred to as the South Line and the up track will be referred to as the North Line, both tracks will be available for Bi-Directional running;

- Between Thompsons Rd and Anakie Rd, the South line is dual gauge and will be referred to as the South Dual Gauge line and the North Line is standard gauge and will be referred to as the North Standard Gauge line;

- Between Anakie Rd and Ballan Rd the South line is standard gauge and will be referred to as the South Standard Gauge line and the North Line is Dual Gauge and will be referred to as the North Dual Gauge line.

- A new standard gauge crossover (points 27) is provided at Thompsons Rd to diverge Adelaide movements from the standard gauge main line to the south dual gauge main line, or Melbourne movements from the South Dual Gauge line to the Standard Gauge main line;

- A new standard gauge crossover (points 45) is provided at Anakie Rd to diverge Adelaide movements from the north standard gauge line to the south standard gauge line, or Melbourne movements from the south standard gauge line to the north standard gauge line;

- A new dual gauge crossover (points 49) is provided at Anakie Rd to diverge Adelaide or Ballarat movements from the south dual gauge line to the north dual gauge line, or Melbourne or North Geelong movements from the north dual gauge line to the south dual gauge line; and

- A new standard gauge turn out from the south standard gauge line to the dual gauge main line will be provided at Ballan Rd Level Crossing at Moorabool.

Signalling

The signalling between North Geelong and Gheringhap will be worked under the rules of Centralised Traffic Control as detailed in TA20, ARTC Code of Practice for Victorian Main Line Operations.

THE FOLLOWING SIGNALS WILL BE COMMISSIONED AT THOMPSONS RD NORTH GEELONG:

- Down Home Signal 72/32, controlling movements from the V/Line Dual Gauge main line to the ARTC South Dual Gauge line;
- Down Home Signal 72/30, controlling movements from ARTC main line to the ARTC North standard gauge line, or to the South Dual Gauge line via crossover 27;
- Down Dwarf Signal 72/36, controlling movements from the Departure Track to the Shunt Neck, or to the South Dual Gauge Main Line;
- Down Dwarf Signal 72/34, controlling movements from the Arrival Track to the Shunt Neck, or to the South Dual Gauge Main Line;
- Down Home Signal 72/32, controlling movements from the V/Line Dual Gauge main line to the ARTC South Dual Gauge line;
- Down Home Signal 72/30, controlling movements from ARTC main line to the ARTC North standard gauge line, or to the South Dual Gauge line via crossover 27;
- Up Dwarf Signal 72/38, controlling movements from the Shunt Neck to the Arrival or Departure Track;
- Up Home Departure Signal 72/40, controlling movements from the ARTC South Dual Gauge line toward the V/Line Operated dual gauge main line, or the arrival or Departure tracks, or to the ARTC standard gauge main line via crossover 27;
- Up Home Departure Signal 72/42, controlling movements from the ARTC South standard gauge line to the ARTC standard gauge main line;
- Down Home Signal 72/46, controlling movements from the ARTC South Dual Gauge line toward the ARTC South Standard Gauge Line, or the ARTC North Dual Gauge main line;
- Down Home Signal 72/44, controlling movements from the ARTC North Standard Gauge main line toward the ARTC South Standard Gauge Line, or the ARTC North Dual Gauge main line;
- Up Home Signal 72/50, controlling movements from the ARTC South Standard Gauge line toward the ARTC South Dual Gauge Line, or the ARTC North Standard Gauge main line;
- Up Home Signal 72/52, controlling movements from the ARTC North Dual Gauge main line toward the ARTC North Standard Gauge Line, or the ARTC South Dual Gauge main line.

All signals will display aspects applicable to the route and track conditions ahead of that signal. Where a route is set for diverge the signal will display a medium speed aspect whilst a straight route will result in a normal speed aspect being displayed. Where a medium speed aspect is displayed for a route, the previous signal will display a ‘Reduce to Medium Speed’ aspect.

THE FOLLOWING SIGNALS WILL BE COMMISSIONED BETWEEN EVANS RD AND BALLAN RD:

- Down Departure Signal 72/54, controlling movements from the South Standard Gauge line to the main line via points 51;
- Down Departure Signal 72/52, controlling movements from the North Dual Gauge line to the main line;
- Up Home Signal 72/56, controlling movements from the North Dual Gauge line, or to the South Standard gauge line via points 51; and
- Up Automatic signal GE808 located at the 80.800Km on the down side of the Moorabool River bridge.

All signals will display aspects applicable to the route and track conditions ahead of that signal. Where a route is set for diverge the signal will display a medium speed aspect whilst a straight route will result in a normal speed aspect being displayed. Where a medium speed aspect is displayed for a route, the previous signal will display a ‘Reduce to Medium Speed’ aspect.
